Target Information

USP7 (also known as HAUSP) is a ubiquitin-specific protease that removes ubiquitin from substrate proteins. This deubiquitylating activity stabilizes its targets, including p53, by antagonizing Mdm2-mediated degradation. Under oncogenic stress, HAUSP can protect p53 from degradation, suggesting a potential tumor suppressor role. Additionally, HAUSP may provide an alternative pathway for p53 stabilization in response to oncogenic signals independent of ARF.
