Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of about 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

Amyloid Precursor Protein (APP) functions as a cell surface kinesin I membrane receptor mediating axonal transport of beta-secretase and presenilin 1.
APP is important for neurite growth, neuronal adhesion, and axonogenesis. It is a 100–140 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein existing in several isoforms due to alternative splicing.
Proteolytic cleavage by beta- and gamma-secretases generates beta amyloid, the primary component of senile plaques — a hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease.
Abnormal APP processing is also implicated in Down’s syndrome, early onset familial Alzheimer’s disease, and cerebral hemorrhage.
