Product Specific Information
This antibody is specific for TL1A, a member of the TNF ligand family. TL1A is expressed by endothelial cells, tissue macrophages, monocyte-derived dendritic cells, plasma cells, and lamina propria-derived lymphocytes. Among peripheral blood cells, TL1A is predominantly expressed by CD4+CCR9+ lymphocytes. Its expression is induced by TNF alpha, IL-1 alpha, and IFN gamma.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. It is abundantly expressed in endothelial cells but not in B or T cells. Expression is inducible by TNF and IL-1 alpha. This cytokine is a ligand for receptor TNFRSF25 and decoy receptor TNFRSF21/DR6. It activates NF-kappaB and MAP kinases and acts as an autocrine factor to induce apoptosis in endothelial cells. It also inhibits endothelial cell proliferation, functioning as an angiogenesis inhibitor. An additional isoform encoded by an alternatively spliced transcript variant has been reported but its sequence has not been determined.
