Target Information
CD336, also known as NKp44 or NCR2, is a 44 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the natural cytotoxicity receptor (NCR) family. It contains an ITIM domain in its cytoplasmic tail and requires association with DAP12, an ITAM-containing transmembrane accessory protein, for NK cell activation.
Originally thought to be expressed only on IL-2–activated NK cells and some γδ T lymphocytes, CD336 is now known to be expressed on IL-3–stimulated plasmacytoid dendritic cells, αβ T cells in the small intestinal epithelium, and T cells in cord blood.
CD336 plays a role in the innate immune response of activated NK cells against viral infection and tumor cell proliferation.
