Target Information
TYW2 (also known as TRM12) is an enzyme involved in the wybutosine-tRNA (Phe) biosynthesis pathway. Wybutosine (yW) is a hypermodified guanosine at the 3′ position adjacent to the anticodon of phenylalanine tRNA, which stabilizes codon-anticodon interactions during ribosomal decoding.
TYW2 participates in a multistep enzymatic reaction that ensures correct translation by stabilizing base-pairing during decoding.
Amplification of TYW2 has been observed in multiple breast cancer cell lines, and qPCR analysis of breast tumors showed overexpression in most samples, suggesting a potential role in breast cancer.
