Product Specific Information
This antibody was cross-adsorbed to unphosphorylated Profilin (Tyr-129) and affinity purified using Profilin (Tyr-129) peptide (without carrier). It detects a 15 kDa band corresponding to Profilin-1 in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) and Jurkat cells treated with pervanadate. Reactivity is abolished by alkaline phosphatase treatment.
Target Information
Profilin is a small (12–15 kDa) phosphoinositide and poly-L-proline binding protein involved in signal transduction and actin filament dynamics. Two mammalian profilins exist with similar biochemical properties but different expression patterns:
- Profilin I: Highly expressed in most tissues except skeletal muscle.
- Profilin II: Predominantly expressed in brain, and at lower levels in skeletal muscle, uterus, and kidney.
Profilin is mainly cytosolic, with higher concentrations in dynamic membrane areas such as the leading edge and ruffling membranes.
