This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of the HLA-G1 antigen.
HLA-G belongs to the MHC Class I molecules (MHC Class Ib; nonclassical) and is expressed on the surface of trophoblast cells.
Target Information
HLA-G belongs to the HLA class I heavy chain paralogues. This molecule is a heterodimer consisting of a heavy chain and a light chain (beta-2 microglobulin).
The heavy chain (~45 kDa) is membrane-anchored and encoded by 8 exons:
- Exon 1: leader peptide
- Exons 2–3: α1, α2 domains (peptide binding)
- Exon 4: α3 domain
- Exon 5: transmembrane region
- Exon 6: cytoplasmic tail
HLA-G is expressed on fetal-derived placental cells.
HLA and MHC antibodies are important in Immunopeptidomics, aiding in the identification and characterization of neoantigens through HPLC-tandem mass spectrometry.
