Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information
The protein encoded by the classic MBP gene is a major constituent of the myelin sheath of oligodendrocytes and Schwann cells in the nervous system. MBP-related transcripts are also found in bone marrow and the immune system. These arise from the long MBP gene (Golli-MBP), which includes additional upstream exons. Alternative splicing generates two sets of MBP-related transcripts:
- Golli-MBP transcripts: Contain unique Golli exons fused with MBP exons, encoding hybrid proteins.
- Classic MBP transcripts: Contain only MBP exons, producing well-characterized myelin basic proteins.
This conserved gene structure suggests that MBP and Golli transcription units are functionally linked and essential for gene regulation.
