Description:
The eBio1316H antibody reacts with mouse IL-13 and functions as a neutralizing antibody. Mouse IL-13 (interleukin-13) is an 11.6 kDa protein secreted by activated T helper cells, CD8+ T cells, and NK cells. It shares several biological activities with IL-4, including suppression of macrophage cytotoxic activity and upregulation of IL-1RA expression. IL-13 induces CD23 expression on B cells and enhances class II MHC gene expression.

Applications Reported:
Useful for neutralization, ELISA detection, and ELISPOT detection.

Applications Tested:
Functional Grade purified format verified by LAL assay (low endotoxin) and bioassay for IL-13 neutralization.
At 0.04 µg/mL, the antibody neutralizes 50% of the biological activity of 7.5 ng/mL mouse IL-13 in TF-1 cell proliferation assay.

Target Information

IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells. It down-regulates macrophage activity, inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokine production, and plays a role in allergen-induced asthma independent of IgE and eosinophils. IL-13 also regulates B cell maturation, up-regulates CD23 and MHC class II expression, and promotes IgE isotype switching.
The IL-13 gene is located on chromosome 5q within the cytokine gene cluster alongside IL3, IL5, IL4, and CSF2.
