Description:
The PVM13-1 antibody reacts with human interleukin-13 (IL-13). IL-13, also known as NC30, is a 12.5 kDa protein secreted by activated T helper cells, CD8⁺ T cells, and NK cells. IL-13 suppresses macrophage cytotoxic activity, upregulates IL-1RA expression, and suppresses inflammatory cytokine expression.

Applications Reported:
The PVM13-1 antibody has been reported for use as the capture antibody in IL-13 ELISPOT assay or ELISA, and for neutralization of IL-13 bioactivity.

Applications Tested:
The functional grade PVM13-1 antibody has been tested for ELISA and ELISPOT capture and neutralization of IL-13 bioactivity. It is recommended to titrate the antibody for optimal assay performance.

Use in a sterile environment.

Target Information

IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells, involved in regulating inflammatory and immune responses. It down-regulates macrophage activity, inhibits production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, and contributes to allergen-induced asthma independently of IgE and eosinophils. IL-13 also regulates B cell maturation and differentiation, upregulates CD23 and MHC class II expression, and promotes IgE isotype switching. The IL-13 gene is part of a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5q, adjacent to IL4.
