Description:
The eBio13A antibody reacts with mouse IL-13, a cytokine mainly produced by Th2 cells and antigen-primed CD8 T cells. IL-13 is involved in allergic inflammation, parasitic clearance, and cancer-related immune modulation. In humans, IL-13 plays a role in B cell isotype switching and downregulates macrophage activity by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12).

Applications Reported:
Useful for ELISA and ELISPOT capture, as well as intracellular staining for flow cytometry.

Applications Tested:
Functional Grade Purified eBio13A antibody tested by LAL assay for low endotoxin levels and validated for ELISA and ELISPOT capture.

ELISA Usage:
Tested as capture antibody in sandwich ELISA/ELISPOT for mouse IL-13, used with biotinylated eBio1316H (13-7135) for detection and recombinant mouse IL-13 (14-8131) as standard.
Recommended capture concentration: 1.0–4.0 µg/mL
Standard curve range: 1000 pg/mL – 8.0 pg/mL

Target Information

IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced by activated Th2 cells, regulating inflammatory and immune responses. It downregulates macrophage activity, inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokine production, and contributes to allergen-induced asthma independent of IgE and eosinophils.
IL-13 influences B cell maturation, upregulates CD23 and MHC class II, and promotes IgE isotype switching. Structurally, IL-13 is similar to IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, and GM-CSF. The IL-13 gene is located near IL4 within the cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5q.
