This antibody detects endogenous levels of PKC-pan only when phosphorylated at Threonine 497.


Target Information

Members of the protein kinase C (PKC) family play key regulatory roles in various cellular functions, including cell growth and differentiation, gene expression, hormone secretion, and membrane function. PKCs are serine/threonine kinases dependent on calcium and phospholipids for activity. Diacylglycerols (DAG) and tumor-promoting phorbol esters bind to and activate PKC.
PKCs can be subdivided into two major classes:

  • Conventional (cPKC): α, βI, βII, γ
  • Novel (nPKC): δ, ε, ζ, η, θ

Expression patterns differ among tissues, and PKC isoforms exhibit distinct cofactor dependencies. For example, kinase activities of nPKC δ and ε are independent of Ca²⁺.
