이 단백질은 526개의 아미노산으로 구성된 핵 단백질이며, 미성숙 흉선세포에서 pre-TCR 및 TCR 활성화에 의해 발현이 증가합니다.
TOX 매개 양성 선택은 RUNX3의 상향 조절과 관련이 있으며, calcineurin 의존적입니다.
또한 TOX 의존적 CD4+CD8 단계 전환은 class II MHC 특이적 T세포 발달에 필요합니다.
