Product Specific Information
Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge if solution is not clear after standing at room temperature. Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Goat Serum and purified and partially purified GFP (Aequorea victoria). No reaction was observed against Human, Mouse, or Rat serum proteins.
Target Information
The jellyfish Aequorea victoria contains Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP Tag) that emits light during bioluminescence. GFP is widely used as a reporter protein for gene expression and as a protein tag in both eukaryotic and prokaryotic systems. It enables localization studies, protein movement tracking, and subcellular compartment analysis.
GFP is a 27 kDa monomeric protein that forms a fluorescent pigment autocatalytically. The wild-type protein absorbs blue light (395 nm) and emits green light (508 nm). GFP fluorescence is stable, species-independent, and suitable for various applications such as monitoring gene expression, protein localization, protein-protein interactions (yeast two-hybrid system), and FRET experiments.
