The NG2 (CSPG4) protein is a human melanoma-associated chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan involved in stabilizing cell–substratum interactions during early melanoma cell spreading on endothelial basement membranes. CSPG4 is an integral membrane proteoglycan expressed by human malignant melanoma cells.
