H3K27me3는 히스톤 H3의 27번 라이신 잔기가 트리메틸화된 후성유전학적 표지로, 유전자 발현 억제와 관련된 이형염색질 영역에 존재합니다. H3K27me3는 비활성 유전자 프로모터에서 주로 발견되며, 활성화 표지인 H3K4me3와 반대 위치에 존재합니다. EZH2는 PRC2 복합체의 구성 요소로서 H3K27 트리메틸화를 매개하며, UTX와 JMJD3는 H3K27me3를 탈메틸화하는 효소입니다. 이 표지의 조절은 유전자 발현 조절에 중요하며, 암을 포함한 다양한 질환에서 이상 조절이 보고되었습니다.
