The monoclonal antibody CNA.42 recognizes a unique carbohydrate epitope found on follicular dendritic cells (FDCs) from various species.
FDCs are large cells located in germinal centers (GCs) of primary and secondary lymphoid tissues. They present non-processed antigens and inhibit apoptosis of B cells, promoting memory B cell selection.
FDCs express several B cell markers such as CD21 (long isoform), CD23, and CD35. They play roles in infectious diseases such as AIDS and transmissible spongiform encephalitis.
Staining with CNA.42 is mainly restricted to the plasma membrane, with occasional cytoplasmic staining (e.g., in mast cells).
This monoclonal antibody is suitable for flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry (IHC) analyses.
- Applications Reported: Flow cytometry, Western blot (WB), IHC (frozen and formalin-fixed paraffin sections)
- Applications Tested:
- Flow cytometry: ≤ 0.5 µg per 10⁶ cells in 100 µL
- Western blot: 2 µg/mL
- IHC (formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded human tonsil): ≤ 1 µg/mL (high pH antigen retrieval)
