Specificity Comments:
Interleukin-3 (IL-3) is a pleiotropic cytokine primarily secreted by activated T lymphocytes. It stimulates proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic cells, supporting growth of both pluripotent stem cells and committed progenitors. IL-3 also protects mast cells from apoptosis and activates the MAP kinase signaling pathway via JAK2-mediated phosphorylation and subsequent Stat5a/b activation.

Target Information

Interleukin 3 (IL-3), also known as Mast Cell Growth Factor (MCGF), Multi-Colony Stimulating Factor (multi-CSF), or Eosinophil-CSF (E-CSF), is produced by activated T cells, mast cells, and eosinophils.
IL-3 acts as a hematopoietic growth factor stimulating colony formation of erythroid, megakaryocyte, neutrophil, eosinophil, basophil, mast cell, and monocytic lineages.
Its activity is species-specific — human IL-3 does not act on mouse cells. IL-3 supports proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis regulation in hematopoietic cells and may also have neurotrophic functions linked to neurological disorders.
