Bovine Albumin Fraction V 7.5% Solution in Dulbecco’s Phosphate Buffered Saline
Details
Bovine albumin Fraction V, also known as Fraction V is a protein derived from the serum of a cow. It is a single polypeptide chain consisting of about 583 amino acid residues. Fraction V gets its name Cohn Fraction V
on account of its fractionation by the Edward Cohn purification methodology using cold ethanol precipitation. Serum albumin was obtained as the fifth fraction in the Cohns method. It is often used in biochemistry as a protein concentration standard. Fraction V is used in cell culture as an additive in serum-free media. It provides protection to the cells from oxidative damage and stabilizes certain media components such as pyridoxal and fatty acids. It is primarily used as a carrier of lipids such as linoleic acid and oleic acid, since they are insoluble in aqueous solutions. It has a high affinity for various metals such as Fe, Cu and Ni. It also serves as protective agent against toxic metabolites. TCL036 is sterile filtered 7.5% albumin bovine fraction V solution in Dulbecco
s Phosphate Buffered saline.
