Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The PLA2G2A gene encodes a member of the phospholipase A2 (PLA2) family. PLA2 enzymes vary in sequence, function, localization, and divalent cation requirements. The group II PLA2, to which this product belongs, is a secreted extracellular enzyme with low molecular mass requiring calcium ions for catalysis. It hydrolyzes the sn-2 fatty acid acyl ester bond of phosphoglycerides, releasing free fatty acids and lysophospholipids, and is thought to regulate phospholipid metabolism in biomembranes. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants with different 5′ UTRs have been identified for this gene.
