Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
Hemostasis following tissue injury involves the deployment of essential plasma procoagulants which participate in a blood coagulation cascade leading to fibrin clot formation and platelet aggregation.
Factor XII (FXII) is a serum glycoprotein that contributes to fibrinolysis and the generation of bradykinin and angiotensin. As a serine protease, it activates both Factor XI and prekallikrein in the coagulation cascade.
Factor XII deficiency, a rare hereditary disorder more prevalent among Asians, does not cause excessive hemorrhaging but has been reported as a risk factor for arterial and venous thromboembolism.
The human Factor XII gene maps to the long arm of chromosome 5 (5q33–qter).
