Description:
The 16B1 antibody reacts with human CD144 (VE-cadherin, cadherin-5). VE-cadherin is a calcium-dependent adhesion molecule localized at intercellular boundaries of endothelial cells in blood and lymphatic vessels. It plays a role in vascular permeability and remodeling.
Applications Reported:
Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis and immunocytochemistry.
Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells (HUVEC). Recommended ≤ 0.125 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Optimal dilution should be determined empirically.
Filtration:
0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Target Information
VE-cadherin is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein in the cadherin superfamily, located on chromosome 16. It consists of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. It mediates homophilic adhesion and is essential for endothelial cell junction organization. An alternative splice variant has been described.
