The antibody was derived from human factor V and the heavy chain (fragment D, 94,000) of factor Va.
Target Information
Coagulation factor V (Proaccelerin) is an essential component of the blood coagulation cascade.
It circulates in plasma and is activated by thrombin, generating heavy and light chains linked by calcium ions.
Active factor V acts as a cofactor with activated coagulation factor X to convert prothrombin to thrombin.
Mutations or defects in the Factor V gene are associated with several conditions, including:
- Factor V deficiency
- Thrombophilia due to activated protein C resistance
- Budd-Chiari syndrome
- Ischemic stroke
- Recurrent pregnancy loss
