Description:
This HM36 antibody recognizes mouse CD36 (scavenger receptor BIII).

Applications Reported:
Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of thioglycolate-elicited peritoneal macrophages.

• Recommended use: ≤0.5 µg/test
• A test = antibody amount to stain cells in 100 µL final volume
• Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test (empirically determined)
• Optimize antibody titration for best performance

Target Information

CD36 (scavenger receptor class B member 3) is a surface protein expressed on macrophages, platelets, and adipocytes.
It functions in lipid metabolism, inflammation, and atherosclerosis through recognition of oxidized LDL, long-chain fatty acids, and apoptotic cells.
CD36 also mediates interactions with thrombospondin and collagen, and is implicated in malaria pathogenesis and platelet glycoprotein deficiency.
Mutations in CD36 can cause Platelet Glycoprotein IV Deficiency and Coronary Heart Disease 7.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified.
