This antibody detects endogenous levels of total AARS2 protein.
Target Information
The AARS2 gene encodes a mitochondrial alanyl-tRNA synthetase, a class-II aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase responsible for attaching alanine to tRNA(Ala). This enzyme plays a critical role in mRNA translation by ensuring correct amino acid charging of tRNAs. Mutations in AARS2 can cause combined oxidative phosphorylation deficiency 8. The enzyme catalyzes the attachment of alanine to tRNA(Ala) in a two-step reaction: activation of alanine by ATP to form Ala-AMP, followed by transfer to tRNA(Ala). It also performs editing of mischarged tRNA(Ala) through its editing domain.
