Product Specific Information
Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge if the product is not completely clear after standing at room temperature. The product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only immediately before use.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Mouse Serum. Reactivity is observed against recombinant Green Fluorescent Protein (Aequorea victoria) by Western blot. No cross-reactivity is seen against RFP.
Target Information
The jellyfish Aequorea victoria contains green fluorescent protein (GFP Tag) that emits light in bioluminescence reactions. GFP is widely used as a reporter protein for gene expression in both eukaryotic and prokaryotic systems, and as a protein tag in cell culture and multicellular organisms.
As a fusion tag, GFP enables localization studies, tracking of protein dynamics, and analysis of subcellular compartmentalization. GFP is a 27 kDa monomeric protein that autocatalytically forms a fluorescent pigment, absorbing blue light (395 nm) and emitting green light (508 nm). It is highly stable, species-independent, and suitable for various fluorescence-based applications such as FRET and yeast two-hybrid assays.
