Product Specific Information

The eBio13A antibody reacts with mouse IL-13, a cytokine produced mainly by Th2 cells and antigen-primed CD8 T cells. IL-13 plays a key role in allergic inflammation, parasitic clearance, and immune regulation, showing both inhibitory and stimulatory activity in cancer models.

Applications Reported: Useful for ELISA, ELISPOT capture, and intracellular staining for flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated for intracellular staining of cultured mouse splenocytes. Recommended use: 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Target Information

IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced by activated Th2 cells that modulates inflammatory and immune responses. It down-regulates macrophage activity, inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokine production, and plays a role in allergen-induced asthma independent of IgE and eosinophils. IL-13 also regulates B cell maturation and promotes IgE isotype switching.

Structurally similar to IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, and GM-CSF, the IL-13 gene is located on chromosome 5q within a cytokine gene cluster near IL4.
