Description:
The eBioJM7A4 monoclonal antibody reacts with the IL-15 receptor alpha chain (IL-15Rα). IL-15 and IL-2 are cytokines with overlapping but distinct biological effects, sharing IL-2Rβ and γ chains for signal transduction. IL-15Rα binds IL-15 with ~1000-fold higher affinity than IL-2Rα binds IL-2. Multiple IL-15Rα splice variants exist, all capable of high-affinity binding. The α-chain primarily confers high affinity binding; at high cytokine concentrations, IL-15 can signal through IL-2Rβ/γ even without the α subunit.

Applications Reported:
This antibody is reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of LPS and IFNγ-stimulated normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test (defined as antibody amount for staining in 100 µL final volume). Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test (empirical optimization required).

Target Information

Interleukin 15 Receptor Alpha (IL-15RA):
A cytokine receptor that binds IL-15 with high affinity. IL-15 regulates T and NK cell activation and proliferation. IL-15 and IL-2 receptors share IL-2Rβ and IL-2Rγ subunits. IL-15RA is structurally related to IL-2RA but binds IL-15 independently. It enhances cell proliferation and expression of apoptosis inhibitors Bcl-xL and Bcl-2.
