Product Specific Information

• Low-endotoxin, preservative-free formulation (Endotoxin level <0.01 EU/µg).
• For FACS analysis: use 10 µL of the recommended dilution to label 1×10⁶ cells in 100 µL.
• Mouse anti-Human CD81 antibody, clone 1D6, recognizes CD81 (TAPA-1), a 26 kDa cell surface antigen and tetraspanin family member.

Target Information

CD81 (TAPA-1, target of anti-proliferative antibody-1) is a tetraspanin family member expressed on most nucleated cells, especially germinal center B cells. It forms complexes with other tetraspanins, integrins, coreceptors, and MHC molecules, influencing adhesion, morphology, activation, and differentiation of immune cells.

CD81 also:

• Promotes muscle cell fusion and myotube maintenance
• Acts as a receptor for hepatitis C virus envelope protein E2
• Associates with CD19, CD21, and integrins on the cell membrane
• Is localized in a tumor-suppressor gene region and is a malignancy candidate gene

Antibodies to CD81 exhibit anti-proliferative effects on various lymphoid cell lines, particularly large cell lymphomas.
