Target Information
CCR7 is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor family, which is a subfamily of chemokine receptors. It was identified as being induced by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and is believed to mediate EBV effects on B lymphocytes. CCR7 is expressed in blood, bone marrow, lymph node, and intestine, particularly in lymphoid tissues and activated B and T lymphocytes. It plays a key role in controlling the migration of memory T cells to inflamed tissues and in stimulating dendritic cell maturation. The chemokine ligand CCL19 (ECL) is a specific ligand of this receptor. CCR7 and related receptors (CCR1–CCR5) are critical for T cell chemotaxis and migration of phagocytic cells to sites of inflammation.
