Target Information
The DDX3 protein belongs to the DEAD-box protein family characterized by the conserved Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD) motif and exhibits ATP-dependent RNA helicase activity. It shows RNA-independent ATPase activity, stimulated by both RNA and DNA. DDX3 functions in both nucleus and cytoplasm, participating in transcriptional regulation, mRNP assembly, pre-mRNA splicing, mRNA export, translation, cellular signaling, and viral replication. Misregulation of DDX3 is linked to tumorigenesis. The gene has a paralog on the Y chromosome and pseudogenes on chromosomes 4 and X. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternative splicing.
