• Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed):
  Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Periostin (PN), also known as osteoblast-specific factor 2 (OSF-2), is a disulfide-linked protein originally identified as an osteoblast-specific factor.
It is a secreted protein that binds heparin and acts as a ligand for αVβ3 and αVβ5 integrins.
In preosteoblasts, Periostin functions as a cell adhesion molecule, playing a role in recruitment, spreading, and attachment of osteoblasts.
Periostin is mainly expressed in the lower gastrointestinal tract, aorta, stomach, placenta, uterus, and breast tissues, and is upregulated in epithelial ovarian tumors and overexpressed in breast cancer.
Expression is increased by BMP2 and TGF-β1.
The protein contains a signal sequence, a cysteine-rich domain, four fasciclin-like repeats, and a C-terminal domain.
