Target Information

Sorbitol dehydrogenase catalyzes the interconversion of polyols and their corresponding ketoses. Together with aldose reductase, it participates in the reduction of glucose to sorbitol by ALDR1 using NADPH as the cofactor. SORD then oxidizes sorbitol to fructose using NAD as cofactor.
