Target Information
Casein kinase I (CKI) and casein kinase II (CKII) compose a family of serine/threonine protein kinases present in all eukaryotes.
CKI family members (alpha, gamma, epsilon, delta) are involved in cytoplasmic and nuclear processes such as DNA replication and repair.
CKII typically exists as a tetrameric complex (α2β2 or αα′β2) with catalytic α and regulatory β subunits.
CKII phosphorylates over 100 substrates including nuclear oncoproteins, transcription factors, and DNA metabolism enzymes.
