- Human KCNMA1 shares 99% amino acid sequence identity with both mouse and rat KCNMA1.
- Reconstitute with 0.2 mL of distilled water to yield a concentration of 500 µg/mL.
Target Information
Potassium channels are ubiquitously expressed proteins serving critical roles in both excitable and non-excitable cells.
The large conductance, calcium-activated potassium channel (Maxi K⁺) is unique in that its activation depends on both intracellular calcium increase and membrane depolarization.
The Maxi K⁺ channel consists of an alpha homotetramer containing voltage-sensing and calcium-binding domains. In vascular smooth muscle, an auxiliary beta-subunit modulates the channel by lowering the calcium concentration required for pore opening by 5–10 fold.
