Product Specific Information

The HIB19 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD19, a 95 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein expressed by B cells during all stages of development except terminally differentiated plasma cells. Follicular dendritic cells also express CD19. Together with CD21, CD81, Leu13, and MHC class II, CD19 forms a multimolecular complex associated with BCR, inducing tyrosine phosphorylation, calcium flux, and B cell proliferation.

Target Information

CD19 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily with two Ig-like domains, expressed on 100% of peripheral B cells. It is also found on certain myeloid leukemia cells. CD19 acts as a signal-amplifying coreceptor for the B cell receptor (BCR) and regulates normal and malignant B cell proliferation. Mutations cause hypogammaglobulinemia; overexpression leads to B cell hyperactivity.
