Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Interferon gamma (IFNγ, Type II interferon) is a macrophage activation factor produced primarily by T-lymphocytes and natural killer cells in response to antigens and cytokines.
- Dimeric glycoprotein (~45 kDa) composed of two 146 amino acid subunits
- Functions include antiviral and tumor antiproliferative activity, MHC induction, macrophage activation, and enhanced immunoglobulin secretion
- Acts via IFNγ receptor I and II through JAK-STAT signaling
- Highly species-specific; human IFNγ does not cross-react with mouse
- Upregulated by IL2, FGF basic, EGF; downregulated by vitamin D3 or DMN
- Mutations associated with aplastic anemia
