Product Specific Information
Recombinant mouse monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These antibodies are generated from specific genes encoding the desired antibody, cloned into an expression vector, and expressed in vitro. Recombinant antibodies provide improved specificity and lot-to-lot consistency.
It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.
Target Information
Occludin is a 65 kDa protein that can exist in multiple phosphorylated forms (up to ~82 kDa). It plays a role in regulating the localization and function of tight junctions. Polyunsaturated fatty acids can up-regulate occludin expression, enhancing transendothelial resistance and reducing permeability. Expression levels vary by tissue; high and continuous in brain tissue, lower and discontinuous in non-neural tissues. Occludin structure is conserved across species. Under-expression of occludin and other tight junction proteins contributes to increased permeability in tumor endothelial junctions, leading to brain tumor edema.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
