PA1-1044 detects Synaptogyrin 1 in rat and mouse samples.
PA1-1044 has been successfully used in Western blot procedures.
By Western blot, this antibody detects a ~25.5 kDa protein representing Synaptogyrin 1 in rat and mouse brain tissue samples.
The PA1-1044 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues D(187) P S Q D S S M P Y A P Y V E P(202) of rat Synaptogyrin 1.
This sequence is conserved in mouse and human.
The PA1-1044 immunizing peptide (Cat. # PEP-280) is available for use in neutralization and control experiments.

Target Information

Synaptogyrins comprise a family of tyrosine-phosphorylated membrane proteins with two neuronal (SYNGR1 and SYNGR3) and one ubiquitous (SYNGR2) members.
SYNGR1 and SYNGR3 are synaptic vesicle proteins, residing in some cases on the same synaptic vesicle, and are thought to be involved in the regulation of neurotransmitter release.
SYNGR2, by contrast, is absent from synaptic vesicles.
The role and localization of a fourth synaptogyrin, SYNGR4, is unclear.
The gene for SYNGR1 is located at chromosome 22q13, a region linked to schizophrenia; however, there is mixed evidence suggesting that mutations in SYNGR1 might be associated with schizophrenia.
