This affinity purified antibody is directed against the 6X HIS epitope tag and is useful for detecting its presence in overexpressed proteins in various assays.
The antibody recognizes the 6X HIS epitope tag (His-His-His-His-His-His) fused to either the amino or carboxy termini of targeted proteins in transfected or transformed cells.
Target Information
The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH).
It is commonly expressed at either the N- or C-terminal regions of recombinant proteins to allow isolation or purification by immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).
Epitope tagging enables detection of recombinant proteins for which no specific antibody is available.
His-tagged proteins are purified by metal chelate chromatography due to histidine’s strong affinity for metal ions such as Ni²⁺.
His tag-specific antibodies facilitate detection or co-immunoprecipitation of tagged proteins.
