Target Information
The encoded Securin protein is a homolog of yeast securin proteins that prevent separins from promoting sister chromatid separation. It acts as an anaphase-promoting complex (APC) substrate, associating with separin until APC activation. This protein exhibits transforming and tumorigenic activity and is highly expressed in various tumors. It contains two PXXP motifs essential for transformation and tumorigenicity, a destruction box (D box) for APC-mediated degradation, and an acidic C-terminal region functioning as a transactivation domain. Securin is mainly cytosolic but partially localizes in the nucleus.
