Target Information
The cysteine-rich secretory proteins (CRISP) family consists of four proteins highly expressed in the male reproductive tract and associated with male fertility.
CRISP2 (also known as TPX1) is implicated in spermatid–Sertoli cell adhesion and sperm–egg fusion, in conjunction with CRISP1.
It regulates Ca²⁺ influx through ryanodine receptors (RYR), influencing acrosome reaction and sperm motility.
CRISP2 also binds MAP3K11 and localizes to the developing acrosome, suggesting a role in acrosome development.
