Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.
Target Information
PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) is a chymotrypsin-like serine protease belonging to the kallikrein family, produced by the prostate epithelium and abundant in seminal fluid.
It can be detected in the sera of patients with prostatic carcinoma and is predominantly complexed to alpha-1-antichymotrypsin (ACT).
A higher proportion of serum PSA is complexed to ACT in prostate cancer than in benign prostatic hyperplasia.
PSA is used to confirm prostatic acinar cell origin in primary and metastatic carcinoma and to rule out non-prostatic carcinoma mimics.
