Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues: Heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) is a chymotrypsin-like serine protease of the kallikrein family produced by the prostate epithelium and is abundant in seminal fluid. PSA can be detected in the serum of patients with prostatic carcinoma. It is predominantly complexed with alpha-1-antichymotrypsin (ACT), a liver-derived serine protease inhibitor. In prostate cancer, a higher proportion of serum PSA is complexed to ACT compared to benign prostate hyperplasia. PSA is used to confirm prostatic acinar cell origin in primary and metastatic carcinoma and to rule out non-prostatic carcinoma mimics.
