PA1-10886 detects BCAS1/NABC1 in human samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot procedures.
A band of approximately 60 kDa is detected by Western blot; however, protein dimerization may occur.
The immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues 532–550 of human BCAS1/NABC1.

Target Information

BCAS1 was identified through positional cloning and found to be overexpressed in most, but not all, breast cancer cell lines.
BCAS1 is cytoplasmically localized and is thought to form homodimers through coiled-coil structures.
High levels of BCAS1 mRNA are seen in brain and prostate tissues, with lower amounts in colon, intestine, and testis.
Cells engineered to overexpress BCAS1 did not lose anchorage-dependent growth or increase their rate of growth, suggesting BCAS1 is not a typical oncogene.
The BCAS1 gene has also been found amplified in other carcinomas such as pancreatic carcinoma, suggesting a role in cell proliferation control.
