This peptide corresponds to 16 amino acids near the center of human CTRP1.
PEP-0265 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-20145.
Target Information
Adipose tissue plays a major role in regulating physiological and pathological processes such as metabolism and immunity by producing and secreting bioactive molecules called adipokines.
The adiponectin/ACRP30 family and its paralogs, the C1q/tumor necrosis factor-alpha-related proteins (CTRPs) 1–7, are highly conserved adipokines.
Unlike adiponectin, which is expressed exclusively by differentiated adipocytes, CTRPs are expressed in various tissues and act mainly on liver and muscle to control glucose and lipid metabolism.
Structural analysis of adiponectin suggests a link between TNF and C1q-containing proteins, indicating a common ancestral innate immunity gene.
In obese (ob/ob) mice, RT-PCR analysis shows mCTRP1 transcripts at higher levels in adipose tissue compared to normal mice.
