Product Specific Information
The 53-7.3 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD5, a 67 kDa protein expressed by most thymocytes, mature T cells, and a subset of B cells. CD5 expression in B-1 cells characterizes a distinct lineage of B cells. CD5 acts as a counter-receptor for CD72 and plays a role in T-B cell interaction.

Flow cytometric analysis, immunoprecipitation, and immunohistochemical staining.
Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes at ≤0.25 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number can range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test. Antibody titration is recommended for optimal performance.

Target Information
CD5 is a 67 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein found on all mature T-lymphocytes, most thymocytes, and many T-cell leukemias and lymphomas. It also reacts with a subpopulation of activated B-cells and may regulate T-cell proliferation. CD5 is expressed on 95% of thymocytes and 72% of peripheral blood lymphocytes, primarily in T cell areas of lymph nodes. Associated diseases include thymus cancer and Richter’s Syndrome.
