Product Specific Information

The UCHT2 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD5, a 67 kDa protein expressed by most thymocytes, mature T cells, and a subset of B cells.
CD5 signaling activates T cells and mediates T-B interactions through binding to CD72 on B cells.
The UCHT2 antibody recognizes primate CD5 and is suitable for flow cytometry, Western blot, and immunohistochemistry.

Applications Tested:
Flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended ≤1 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Titrate for optimal performance.

Target Information

CD5 is a 67 kDa human T-lymphocyte transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on all mature T cells, most thymocytes, and many T-cell leukemias and lymphomas.
It also reacts with a subpopulation of activated B cells and may regulate T-cell proliferation.
CD5 is found on 95% of thymocytes and 72% of peripheral blood lymphocytes.
In lymph nodes, main reactivity is observed in T-cell areas.
Diseases associated with CD5 dysfunction include thymus cancer and Richter’s Syndrome.
