Anti-Fibrinogen is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum through delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion-exchange chromatography, followed by extensive dialysis.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Goat Serum as well as purified and partially purified Fibrinogen [Human Plasma].
Cross-reactivity against Fibrinogen from other sources is unknown.

Target Information

Fibrinogen is the precursor of fibrin, a coagulable protein in vertebrate blood plasma. Upon vascular injury, thrombin cleaves fibrinogen to form fibrin, the major component of blood clots.
Fibrinogen is a dimer of three pairs of non-identical chains (FGA, FGB, and FGG) cross-linked by disulfide bonds in their N-terminal regions.
The molecule has two terminal D domains and one central E domain, which are separated during fibrinogen degradation by plasmin.
Mutations in this gene can cause disorders such as dysfibrinogenemia, afibrinogenemia, and renal amyloidosis.
