Target Information

Protein Kinase C (PKC) isoforms are serine/threonine kinases involved in signal transduction pathways that regulate differentiation, proliferation, gene expression, brain function, membrane transport, and organization of cytoskeletal and extracellular matrix proteins.
PKC acts as a key regulator of cell cycle transitions (G1 and G2 checkpoints), with effects depending on activation timing and isozyme type.
At least 12 PKC isoforms have been identified in humans, including alpha, beta I, beta II, gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta, eta, theta, iota, lambda, and mu.
PKC beta II is expressed in cardiac muscle, intestinal epithelium, kidney, and pancreas, and is associated with cell cycle progression and cancer proliferation.
